Online term-based courses are a great way to add a class to your day without adding the geographic commitment. Courses provide the dynamic experience of a traditional class with the flexibility of a web-based environment. Students interact with their instructor and fellow students asynchronously through weekly assignments, activities, and discussions.
Time Commitment
Students should expect strict deadlines and due dates for assignments. Students should also plan to spend the same number of hours actively participating online as they would if they attended a traditional course. For example, if a course is 3 credit hours, students should expect 3 hours of online interaction per week. In addition, students should plan on 2 hours of course work per semester hour to account for the time it takes to complete reading and writing assignments.
Term-based courses follow a structured academic calendar and holiday schedule. Individual courses may have unique start and end dates, as well as drop deadlines and refund schedules. For more information, see the Term-Based Schedule.
