Independent Learning

Program Information

The Independent Learning program offers online distance learning courses and print correspondence courses; print correspondence courses are conducted through the United States Postal Service.

Some of our courses are self-paced, and some are term-based; for more details, please see the navigation at left.

Separate Tuition from Main Campus

For main campus CU-Boulder degree students, tuition for Independent Learning classes will be charged in addition to and separate from main campus tuition.

Faculty and Staff Discounts

University of Colorado faculty and staff on at least a permanent, half-time appointment and retired faculty and staff may enroll in classes at a 20% tuition discount on most courses with the exception of the Writing and Rhetoric courses. A 10% discount is available for Sustainable Practices courses; see the program site at Sustainable Practices. Please provide proof of status with the University of Colorado when you register.
