Introduction to Poetry
NCWR 1007

Start looking at life through the eyes of the poet! In this class, we will consider the many facets of poetry--from narrative poetry to prose poetry to found poetry. Through weekly readings and writing exercises, you will develop your poetic voice and vision with exercises using imagery, symbols, word choice, etc. We will read and write in a variety of poetic styles working with the nuts and bolts of the craft, learning the difference between closed form and open form, denotation and connotation, and setting, situation, and allusion. Some aspects of this class will be in workshop format with writers sharing their work with others. Required textbook is available at the CU Book Store.
