The mission of the Division of Continuing Education and Professional Studies is to provide quality, innovative lifelong learning opportunities to a diverse student population by extending the educational resources of the University of Colorado at Boulder.
The University of Colorado at Boulder established the Division of Continuing Education and Professional Studies in 1911 to extend the resources of the University in nontraditional ways. Since learning needs are unique and don’t always follow the traditional college student path, Continuing Education offers a variety of programs—from courses for university credit, to personal enrichment classes to career-boosting computer, technology, and business classes.
The University’s Flagship 2030 strategic planning process has led to a shared vision for transforming CU-Boulder into one of the nation’s leading public research universities.
The Division is committed to this new vision in which the University becomes a leading model of the “new flagship university” of the 21st century; a university that redefines learning and scholarship in a global context for the benefit Colorado and the world.
Division leadership was intimately involved in all phases of Flagship 2030 and particularly in one of Flagship 2030’s Core Initiatives – “Serving Colorado, the Community, and Our Graduates”. The goal of this initiative is to expand outreach programming aimed at Colorado communities and enhance opportunities for lifelong and distance learning.
