Let Boulder Evening Be Your Stage: Enroll in Theatre Courses

Act now to reserve your spot in one of Boulder Evening’s spring theatre courses. Boulder Evening credits are just like those awarded on main campus. Grades count toward your GPA, and your transcript doesn’t distinguish between evening and daytime courses.

Acting for Nonmajors (THTR 1003) is full on main campus, but there are still spots available in the evening course offered on Tuesdays from 5:30-8:30 p.m. In Acting for Nonmajors, you will learn the basic principles of acting, even with no previous acting experience. The course will focus on relaxation, concentration, improvisation, use of imagination, actions, objectives, initial monologue and scene work, and basic terms and concepts of process work for the actor.

Introduction to Theatre (THTR 1009) is just that—an introduction to the varieties of theatrical art—past and present— contributions of the various theatrical artists to the total production, and the place of theatre art in today’s society. Offered on Thursdays from 6-9 p.m., this course is designed for nonmajors and is approved for arts and sciences core curriculum in literature and the arts. As part of your experience, you will attend and report on local theatre productions.

Development of the American Musical (THTR 3011) studies the American musical theatre heritage and its relation to the continually changing milieu. Offered on Wednesdays from 6-9 p.m., in this course you will examine productions, their creators, and performers. As an upper level course, prerequisites include junior or senior standing and three credits in theatre, dance, or music. This course is approved for arts and sciences core curriculum in literature and the arts.
